History
Although the Academy project was born more than a decade ago in the minds of Rafa Nadal and his team, it was on November 3, 2014 when the official construction of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar began, a historic milestone that was celebrated on November 24 with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony.
After the celebration of the first Summer Camp in the summer of 2016, the first class of students joined the Academy on September 1. The official inauguration of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar took place on October 19, 2016 in an emotional event attended by Roger Federer, José María Álvarez-Pallete (Executive Chairman of Telefónica) and great figures and personalities from the world of tennis.
Once the Academy was consolidated in Manacor, an expansion project began with the opening of the tennis complexes “Rafa Nadal Tennis Center” located in Costa Mujeres (Mexico) and in Halkidiki (Greece) where tennis programs are taught with the training methodology of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar.
